What Next for Limbaugh, Hannity, and Others?

Wed, Jan 30, 2008 by Austin Cassidy

Odds & Ends

With John McCain on the verge of capturing the Republican Presidential nomination, many conservative talk radio hosts are digging in.  For some reason, people like Rush Limbaugh have as much of a hatred for Senator McCain as they do for liberal Democrats.

They charge that McCain is somehow a phony conservative who doesn’t represent family values or conservative beliefs.  Indeed, many of McCain’s harshest critics claim that he lacks the “conservative credentials” that they posses.  Some people see that logic as particularly odd coming from Limbaugh, himself a childless, thrice-divorced, former prescription drug abuser.

If the election comes down to a McCain vs. Obama or McCain vs. Hillary race… what will happen then?  Will Sean Hannity actually advocate that people don’t vote or that they support a spoiler third party candidate?  It seems unlikely, but it’s hard to image how these personalities will reverse course.

As Republican voters continue to embrace Senator McCain as their choice for President, these radio talk show hosts are in danger of being left behind.  No longer the voice of the conservative movement, they become merely an amusing sideshow.

What is the alternative?  Will Limbaugh ever fully embrace McCain’s candidacy?  Sound off in the comments!

I really don’t think anyone is going to “sound off”

  2. Roger Says:

Rush Limbaugh is a fucktard and should stop trying to play like he represents conservatives when he’s not a conservative himself. He’s a bloated gas bag who needs to STFU.

  3. Joh Wills Says:

McCain supports amnesty for illeagls. If this is not true why is Vicente Fox advisor Juan Fernandez one of McCains political lacky’s. LA RAZA”THE RACE” are in with Juan Fernandez.

No.2 McCain-Feingold you can’t give a certain amount of money or say anything bad about a candidate 30 days before an election.

RUSH LIMBAUGH,MICHAEL SAVAGE, MARK LEVIN will never support John McCain.

PS Where are the captured POW’s JOHN McCain promised to bring home from Vietnam/

    WELL…..

  4. R Lynn Long Says:

Does it seem likely that all of the Republicans are going to sit at home for Rush while the Democraps all come out to vote?

  5. Yolanda Says:

There’s too many people in the GOP like Rush and Joh Wills who continually harp on the immigration issue. We need people to pick fruit, and that’s that. We still make some agricultural products in the USA - and that’s about the ONLY THING we still make here. Send the Mexicans home and we’ll even be importing our food.

PEOPLE FROM MEXICO DO NOT HAVE HORNS GROWING OUT OF THEIR HEADS! They want to get paid, and businesses here want to hire them. WHY does Rush Limbaugh want to destroy American business? WHY does Rush Limbaugh want to end our economic competitiveness? WHY does Rush Limbaugh hate America?

  6. Ronald Says:

Oh God, Yolanda, don’t you know Republican hand-waving when you see it? They can’t be trusted to manage the economy, regulate businesses, not get us into an unconscionable war, etc. so they pick on poor immigrants who can’t fight back or on ridiculous homosexuals who fight back in all the wrong ways. The trouble is that the American people keep falling for it. Well, the simple thing to do in November, 2008 is to *not* vote for politicians that demagogue on this issue. I agree with you… its quite grotesque to watch these Republicans pick on poor people just looking to make a buck. But hey, these are the same people that brought you the Persian Gulf War so what did you expect?

  7. Mike Says:

Well Austin, McCain should actually be a Democrat. In the last three years he has shown that he won’t stand up for free speech, he won’t stand up for the immigration laws of this land, and he won’t support tax cuts. Sorry man, but you are backing someone that is no better than Clinton.

  8. bob Says:

MCCAIN IS FAR BETTER THAN CLINTON!

  9. Yolanda Says:

“If this is not true why is Vicente Fox advisor Juan Fernandez one of McCains political lacky’s. LA RAZA”THE RACE” are in with Juan Fernandez.”

Ummm…yeah, I mean…OBVIOUSLY that’s the only reason Fernandez would support him. *rolling eyes, rolling eyes*

  10. Mike Says:

Bob, McCain is no better than Clinton. Only difference between the two is that he can pee standing up….. well wait… maybe she can too.

  11. Anne from Texas Says:

“RUSH LIMBAUGH,MICHAEL SAVAGE, MARK LEVIN will never support John McCain” - perhaps you are correct and they won’t, but what does that mean in view of what we have seen in the primary’s? The lead that Senator McCain has is clear and Governor Huckabee is doing well also, and they don’t like him either. Governor Huckabee has been winning the Southern states which have always been the “base” of the Republican party, and is certainly “conservative”. I don’t agree with many of his views but I do believe he is a good man and a Conservative man of deep convictions. What does it say about a party that would treat him this way? I think a few “elites” have decided that they “own” the Republican party and I resent it.

It’s looking more and more that it is the Talk Radio hosts who are out of touch with what the Republicans want. I read today that they did the math, and Governor Romney has spent 1.3 million dollars per delegate - and he can’t even win in the South. We are Conservatives - not idiots, Romney is simply not believable, and can someone explain to me the last time the Republican party EVER had a successful candidate from Massachusetts?

They are eating their own and enjoying the meal. It’s totally appalling.

9 TRILLION national debt! I’m never going to pay this off and neither will my wife. Ya’ll trot on out and vote for your favorite republicrat and then get to work earning that taxable income. You,ve got interest payments to make.
