Huckabee is Exacting His Revenge on Romney

John Edwards dropped out of the race, so why won’t Mike Huckabee?  After all, Edwards was the “third wheel” in the Democratic race just like Huckabee is in the GOP contest.

Huckabee knows there’s almost no chance he can win now.  Yet he pushes forward with the hope that Southern states might hand him enough delegates to keep him viable past Super Tuesday.

But there’s another reason he’s still running.  Huckabee is someone who has been known to hold the occassional grudge and he feels badly burned by the brass knuckles campaign that Mitt Romney ran in Iowa.  By staying in the race, Huckabee is drawing votes that might otherwise go to Romney.  And if he stays in the race until Wednesday, Huckabee will be able to help tip things to McCain.

Huckabee would like to be Vice-President and all signs suggest McCain would like having him on the ticket.  The two men get along well and have a great deal of respect for each other.

Romney has no one to blame but himself.  In the early contests of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina the races eventually came down to 2-person contests…

First, in Iowa, it was a Huckabee vs. Romney race and Mitt Romney ran a slash and burn negative campaign against Huckabee.  Romney lost.

Then, in New Hampshire, it was a McCain vs. Romney race and Mitt Romney ran a slash and burn negative campaign against McCain.  Romney lost.

But in South Carolina, where the race boiled down to a McCain vs. Huckabee contest… the rhetoric was downright civil.  The candidates took occassional shots at each other, but nothing like the smear tactics employed by the Romney campaign.

Romney’s likely defeat on Tuesday will have it’s roots in that harshly negative campaign he unleashed against Huckabee in Iowa a month ago.  And Huckabee may just be laughing all the way to the White House.  Or at least the United States Naval Observatory.

Why does Mike stay in the race - because Mitt is not a conservative - Human Events listed him as a RINO in 2005 - one of the ten most liberal Republican Office holders in the country.

  2. Jaimee Says:

You’re spreading the same lies as Fox and their “conservative” friends - Rush, Sean, and Levin. Only 8% of the vote (prior to Maine) has been awarded. McCain isn’t promised the election.

Romney and McCain are trying to appeal to the conservatives and portraying themselves as one of them. Huckabee IS conservative.

FAMILY VALUES – Gov. Huckabee supports a federal constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. He Successfully fought for Arkansas’ marriage amendment and strongly supports a similar, federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

The National Right to Life stated last week that of all the candidates “Gov. Huckabee has taken the strongest pro-life position on all of life issues…” For Mike, pro-life is a matter of record, not a matter of political rhetoric. Here is some of what he accomplished for the unborn during his years as governor of Arkansas:

    Arkansas Unborn Child Amendment
    Partial Birth Abortion Ban
    Partial Notification Law
    Informed Consent (abortion) Law
    Safe Harbor Law
    Unborn Child Pain Awareness law
    Unborn Victims of Violence law

FAMILY VALUES - Before running for a national election, Gov. Romney was adamantly pro-choice. The best way to capture his record is to hear it in his own words. Please take a few minutes to listen to this short video clip:

    http://catholicknight.blogspot.com/2008/01/mit-romney-is-not-pro-life.html

Gov. Romney’s Dept of Educ, Social Services, and Health Department all participated in breaking new ground on a variety of measures that promoted homosexuality.

During his time in office Gov. Romney appointed prominent homosexual activists and Democrats as judges

Romney can’t make up his mind - pro-choice nor pro-life? Gay marriage or traditional marriage?

FAMILY VALUES - Sen. McCain supports gov’t funding for experimentation on human embryos. This is not a pro-life position. Thankfully, Pres. Bush has stood his ground on this one.

McCain’s record shows his views to be more in line with the most liberal Democrats in Washington.

McCain Voted AGAINST National Right to Life Issues
25% of the time in 2005-2006
18% of the time in 2003-2004

McCain Voted AGAINST Family Research Council and American Family Association issues
38% of the time in 2006
34% of the time in 2005
33% of the time in 2004

MIA - McCain did not vote on 56.1% Senate votes (249 times) during this past congressional session, though this is his responsibility as a senator. Perhaps this is a good thing for conservative social issues.

Huckabee’s also got a good plan for immigration, infrastructure, economy, Iraq, and the other issues important to conservative Americans.

    Go Huckabee!

Mark 10:13-16The people brought children to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus was irate and let them know it: “Don’t push these children away. Don’t ever get between them and me. These children are at the very center of life in the kingdom. …” Then, gathering the children up in his arms, he laid his hands of blessing on them. (The Message)

Thank you, conservative elite media commentators and talk show hosts, for splitting the Republican ticket by your continual slandering of Huckabee and Paul supporters. You didn’t get your guy so you trashed everybody else. The Republicans will not get those voters back in time for the primary election. Can you say G. Ford, B. Dole and H. Bush? Please be aware that you are not that smart. You just turned off the conservative base and their donations.

Thank you for putting a Democrat in the White House in 2009.

  4. Nancy Crayton Says:

We don’t want Mike Huckabee out of the race. We want him to be President instead of a man we cannot trust - Mitt Romney. I want a consistent Conservative - that’s Mike Huckabee. I know where he stands. He put the good of his State before his political party. He is like Ronald Reagan because he cares about the Country, as a whole, not just the Republican party.

  5. Derek Says:

The only person that needs to drop out of the race is slick Mitt, the man is no friend to any real conservative. Mitt might think by Huckabee dropping out he would get those votes, but he must be dreaming because the majority of Huckabee supporter would go to McCain. The new Fox poll points out the facts (http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/020108_election_release_web.pdf), if Huckabee drops out McCain becomes the choice. As a Huckabee supporter I can tell you that I will support McCain over Romney, because McCain has been civil towards Mike and I believe he hold true convictions on what he believes. Governor Romney on the other hand has run millions of dollars worth of negative ad’s against Mike distorting his record, instead of talking about his own record. Mitt also has no firm convictions on anything, he will do or say anything to get a vote. http://www.trueromney.com

    Go Huckabee

  6. debforhuck Says:

The only reason Romney is still in the race is because of his own personal wealth and because the conservative media/pundits have been propping him up. Romney spent millions of dollars and lost in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. Why does that make him eligible to be called part of the two man race? Romney must be desperate because he knows he cannot win. Huckabee on the other hand has had no money, no republican establishment endorsement and no conservative media/pundit assistance. In fact, they were out to get him. So that tells me that Huckabee is resonating with the American people with his message and his authenticity. There are thousands of Americans who are just tuning into the political scene as their states are getting ready to cast their ballots. And who is telling them how to vote? The media and pundits. Why not let the voters decide with their hearts who they want? Because if it keeps being dictated to them, they will continue to excuse themselves from the process and just stay home. I for one am going to vote for Huckabee because I value my vote and I know my vote will send a principled message.

  7. carlene Says:

I think Huckabee stays in because he is the only true conservative on the ticket. McCain is a social conservative. Romney a fiscal (kind of) conservative. But Huckabee is both. Unfortunately he did not have a personal fortune to blanket tv with negative smear ads. And he does not have the establishment backing that McCain has - McCain ensures status quo to Washington politicians. Huckabee has the will of the people. The more people hear him the more they like what they hear. Im glad he is in. Not because I think he is gunning for a vp spot, but because of the principle of it all. The White House should not be bought with personal fortune, and it should not be given in order to maintain status quo. I support Mike Huckabee and I approve of this comment.

  8. keneikirk Says:

It is Mitt that should drop out, if anyone, not Mike. Mike is the candidate we want and we will not switch to Mitt. Plus, Mike has a really chance in a number of states.

There is a Huckster Born Every Minute

To paraphrase the Jews, this is “bad for the evangelicals.”

As far as I can tell, it’s mostly secular liberals swooning over Huckabee. Liberals adore Huckabee because he fits their image of what an evangelical should be: fat, stupid and easily led.

Hey! How about adults privately smoking cigarettes in their homes? Huckabee wants a federal law banning smoking IN YOUR OWN HOME!

Huckabee claims he opposes gay marriage and says Scalia is his favorite justice, but The Huckster supports a Supreme Court decision denounced by Scalia for paving the way to a “constitutional right” to gay marriage. I guess The Huckster is one of those pro-sodomy, pro-gay marriage, pro-evolution evangelical Christians.

No wonder Huckabee is the evangelical liberals like.

Huckster’s been cavorting with the legacy of the White Citizens’ Council — the Council of Conservative Citizens, a group listed as a white supremacist organization by the Southern Poverty Law Center. That’s why the South thinks Huckster is the best candidate if Obama is nominated. Rumours are that McCain will pick The Huckster for VP.

“In the 1930s, the socialist intellectual H.G. Wells called for the creation of a “liberal fascism,” which he envisioned as a totalitarian state governed by an oligarchy of benevolent experts. In Liberal Fascism, Jonah Goldberg brilliantly traces the intellectual roots of fascism to their surprising source, showing not only that its motivating ideas derive from the left but that the liberal fascist impulse is alive and well among contemporary progressives-and is even a temptation for compassionate conservatives.”

“With someone like Huckabee; with someone who actually takes compassionate conservatism seriously, you’ve got this vision that the government can do anything it sets its mind to, and that the measure of good public policy is how much you care. That, to me, is a very scary turn of events in American politics.”
