Here’s another sign that the Democratic nomination is slipping through Hillary Clinton’s fingers, she is giving up on Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary…
Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has scaled back her Wisconsin campaign schedule by a full day, and is now planning to leave the state after Monday morning instead of Tuesday morning.
The move suggests the campaign does not think it can overtake rival Barack Obama here. Obama has already campaigned in the state Tuesday night, Wednesday, Friday, and today. He also has single events planned for Sunday (Kaukauna) and Monday (Beloit).
While the two have exchanged hard-hitting TV ads here, Obama began airing ads a week earlier and has spent much more on TV.
Today is Clinton’s first day of campaigning in the state, with an event in Kenosha and a state party dinner in Milwaukee, where Obama also will appear. Clinton will campaign Sunday in De Pere, Wausau and Madison, and is expected to do one event in the state Monday morning before leaving.
While recent public polls suggested Obama began the run-up to the Feb. 19 primary here with only a small lead, the Clinton campaign has wrestled with the tradeoffs of spending time and money here versus the Ohio and Texas primaries March 4, which Clinton cannot afford to lose.
What are the odds she can skip over a dozen primaries, lose them all by big margins, and then come back and when the big states that she’s hand picked later on? Well, that strategy worked really well for Rudy Giuliani so I’m sure Hillary will have just as much luck with it.

Why is the media determined to count her out? Some people do their own research and are disturbed to discover things about Obama that are a bit scary. My family, friends, and co-workers that voted for or are planning to vote for Hillary would NEVER vote for Barack Obama. Why? We see the lies and the divisiveness of his campaign - he meddled in Kenya and a thousand people died,
his campaign has split the Democrat Party…we are
all just waiting for the violence - and there will
be riots. Thanks Barack - change we can believe in
is DANGEROUS!

You are crazy! that Obama meddled in Kenya is a figment of your imagination, shows how far some people can go to show their ignorance. Obama is an American and for me I wouldn’t care what he’s purpotedly done in Kenya if He can sort my mess at home. I wouldn’t care if he killed a million people in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Egypt

President Barack Hussein Obama? With that name, are you serious? The US will be the laughing stock of the world!
February 17th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Anang’a, wow! that’s a loaded statement! Blind Admiration!
February 17th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Bill Clinton, responsible for race tinged remarks, is the one responsible for the forces splintering the Democratic party. Hillary Clinton’s surrogate, the governeor of PA, continued to make racial remarks, and is responsible for the forces splineting the Democratic party. Hillary Clinton’s surrogates who insinuate that Obama is a Muslim (what the heck is wrong being a Muslim?) which is so untrue, are the ones splintering the Democratic party. Hillary Clinton’s vote for George Bush’s war and her subsequent attempt to portray Obama as a supporter of the war is what is splitting the Democratic party. Washington is full of solutions and policies that have not been implemented. That is why her ‘I am the Solutions Presicent’ is not selling. Her vociferoues support for NAFTA during her husband’s administration (part of her 35 years of expereince!) and her backtracking now (I was not in the Senate when NAFTA passed) is what makes Labor groups desert her for Obama. The blame for the problems in the Democratic party rest squarely on the shoulders of Hillary and Bill Clinton.
Now allow us to vote with our heart and soul!

It takes a Clinton to clean after a Bush. And the cleaning game continues. They will never finish cleaning their scandals - Clinton more so. But a new broom sweeps clean! Clinton is not that new broom. Obama is, stupid!
Why are the Clintons so desperate to go back into the White House? May be to mop up the Monica mess? Keep your peace!
Latinos, watch out. It is your turn this time. Just as they did with blacks, the Clintons will use you now for their selfish political interest and play the same race card against you when it suits them. Perhaps, when it is Chelsea’s turn to clean after another Bush.

Your article is both blatantly misleading and totally erroneous. Surveys taken midweek shows here withing the margin of error on all polling, with 1/4 of voters undecided. I would hardly call that giving up! She’s going to Ohio and Texas where she is way ahead in polling. How bout telling the truth and get off this ridiculous Hillary bashing. People are really tired of this bias the media, and I’m confident it will show in the Tuesday Primary.

Merryweather-
there is nothing wrong or laughable with a President by the name of Barack Hussein Obama . Many in the world respect Obama, but know Hilalry and Bill as the lying, two-faced, manipulative, down n’ dirty powerhungry individuals that they are.
As for names, although I have nothing against him as a human being, President Mike Huckabee sounds ridiculous. It conjures up a gun toting, bible pounding hillbilly yokle in the mold of a Jed Clampett. I’ve heard Mike Huckabee speak though, and at least He would not sound as much as a yokle as does the present president, George W. Bush….who is the perfect image of the typical redneck.

Here are some details from the Massachusesetts mandatory health care program which Clinton wants to make national:
“What are the costs? Costs are determined by family size to be covered, age of adults to be covered and income level. A single person must pay the FULL COST of insurance premiums if their income is greater than $30,636. A couple must pay the FULL COST of insurance premiums if their income is greater than $41,076. A family, 1 couple with one child, must pay the FULL COST of insurance premiums if their income is greater than $51,516, and so on. Government assistance is provided to those making less than the stated income level within each family size mentioned above. To get more information on the assistance provided, you may go to http://www.mahealthconnector.org . This assistance may be changing soon, as indicated by this recent article in the Boston Globe. http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/02/15/health_plan_rates_may_rise_by_14/
Below is a table with premium costs PER MONTH of plans currently available within numerous categories:

———————————60————–$1139.53————$1984.00 - $2415.07
About this table - The column titled “Insufficient Coverage” is the monthly premium for the cheapest plan available within all categories. The reason I titled it “Insufficient Coverage” is that I believe it is just that! This plan has a $2000 deductible per person, or $4000 for a family. It only covers 20% of hospital stays after the deductibles are met. I don’t believe this is a worthwhile health insurance plan because the premiums don’t justify the high deductibles, and because what we uninsured really need is protection against a huge unexpected hospital bill. I included this option in the table, however, to be honest about the lowest cost plans that are available. The column titled “Good Coverage” is the monthly premium for a range of different plans that have low or no deductibles, and 100% coverage for hospital stays. To see all the plans available for every family size and age, you can go to http://www.mahealthconnector.org . “

jtaylor–thanks for the post on the Mass. Health Plan. Given those facts, if my family didn’t have family coverage through work (about 60% is covered), we would struggle pretty hard to meet those premiums, and we make, combined, more than the minimum (I assume this is federal taxable income). It would be doable if we could get the lowest premium, but I’m not sure we could. My daughter has a pre-existing G.I. condition that might put us into a higher-priced plan.
Given that, it’s hard to assume that mandates are the answer.
(Single-payer is, I think, but it ain’t gonna happen).

Anang’a said “I wouldn’t care what he’s purpotedly done in Kenya if He can sort my mess at home.” WOW! “if He can sort my mess at home.” And right there is the heart of the Democrat party. What can you do for me? Anang’a is a great example of what is wrong with this country.

Hirotomi,
Your name sounds ridiculous too. It conjures up the image of a sword-toting, squinty-eyed samurai guy who can’t drive. Stereotypes are pretty hateful and stupid, I hope you agree.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:00 am
fact: stereotypes are usually employed by the less educated. it is a way of simplifying the world around you so that it becomes easier to understand it.
fact: states (a well as cities, look at austin, TX) where a larger % of the population is college educated tend to vote left.
observation: It is much easier to find sterotypical framing coming from individuals on the right side of the political spectrum than from the left.
not a surprising correlation, is it?
BTW Austin, you meant “…come back and WIN the big states that she’s hand picked…”
February 19th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Actually the sterotypical framing comes mostly from the left. They play up to the minorities with the “you can’t get a head on your own, so let the government do it for you”, or to women with “you’ve been treated unfairly all these years, and you’ll never make it any further, so let the government take care of all that for you.”
Notice that the left will do what it can to take from those that will produce to give to those that will not. The left is the party of the lazy and stupid above all else.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
“The left is the party of the lazy and stupid above all else.”
mike, thats the only instance of stereotypical framing in your entire post. your other examples are not an example of the concept, and i suggest you re-visit its definition and re-evaluate your position.
the idea you bring up is actually a way of seeing the world that is deep rooted in one’s personality. look up WITTs (we are in this together) and YOYOs (you’re on your own), so that you have a better reference of what you are talking about. here’s a starting point:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/6/5/214528/2965
lastly, your saying that the left “is the party of the lazy and stupid above all else” is way off. you could get away with “the party that *defends* the lazy”, but for “the party of the the stupid” you should look in the mirror and in the statistics on education level VS political affiliation.
February 19th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Tim, say what you like, but you are on the side of the dumb, and those that have to have them in order to stay in power. Look at the candidates that are running for the Democrat ticket. They are going around telling the idiots out there (like yourself)on how they will take from people like myself that produce and give to those of you that will sit on their ass all day and soak up tax dollars.
If it were not for an entitlement mentality Democrats would not exist.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
you are wrong. the republicans are actually the ones who need the dumb to stay in power. the producing elite comprises the smallest part of their base. most of the republican voters do so out of ideology, and ideology/fundamentalism requires no rationality. it’s the easy way out. how many republican PhDs are there? How many republican scientists are there?
you’re clearly not worried about a better america. for all you know, as long as you are doing fine america is doing fine, right?
you main point is reduced taxes. sure i like that idea too, but it needs to be paired with fiscal conservatism. is it sustainable to tax less and spend trillions at war? BTW, wouldn’t you rather see tha money spent on making things better here?
unfortunately your level of rhetoric is that of a 9th grader. You’re offensive and generalization is your way of distilling the world into something you can comprehend. needless to say i won’t be coming back here to spend time arguing with you.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
I’m glad I’m offensive to people like yourself. You need to be offended.
Sure, Democrats think they are smart, that’s great. Keeps them in the dark from the truth. You are great example of that.
The fact is the uneducated vote Democrat. Where conservatives (notice I did not say Republican) want people to build themselves up with out the aid of government, Democrats want to pull you down, and make you want government to live. You’d have to be a fucking moron to want that. Again Tim, you are a great example.
