Ron Paul Pushes Forward, Cash in Hand

Thu, Feb 21, 2008 by Austin Cassidy

Campaign 2008

Longshot Republican Ron Paul is pushing forward with his Presidential campaign despite earlier indications that he was calling it quits to focus on a tough renomination fight for Congress.

Apparently, at the end of January, the Paul Presidential campaign had about $6 million in cash on hand.  That’s more than Huckabee, more than Romney, and even more than presumtive nominee John McCain.

So as long as the money and volunteers are there, Paul vows to keep up the fight: “I will stay in as long as my supporters want me to,” the Texas congressman promised CNN. “And I say as long as the number of volunteers continues to grow, and the money comes in, and there are primaries out there, and they want me to be involved, I am going to stay involved.”

A local conservative city councilman has launched a primary challenge against Congressman Paul.  He’s trying to use Paul’s opposition to the Iraq war to highlight that Paul is not in touch with the voters of his Texas district.

It was a similar situation that took Dennis Kucinich out of the Presidential race several weeks ago, as he now tries to win another term in Congress against stiff local opposition.  Kucinich’s vote totals haven’t suffered much, making some wonder if anyone even noticed that he pulled out.

I fear that if we do not elect a president such as Ron Paul at this critical time in our nations history, the elites that are manipulating the election process and stacking the deck with their hand picked CFR candidates (Hillary, Obama, McCain and Huckabee) for us to choose, will do everything in their power to make sure we are fragmented in our ability to organize using platforms such as the Internet the next time around.

America is rotting from the inside out. When I try to express my views to my friends and co-workers I either get blank stares, ridicule or the “yah, yah, yah” BS. They can’t tell you what a super delegate is but I would bet they know what time “American Midol” comes on. The MSM has a spell cast upon the masses, a spell that will not be easily broken. I am not sure what it will take but I would assume it will involve more than your average “Ameri-zombie” is willing to put forth. I plan to make the march on Washington that Ron Paul is proposing, it is something that needs to be done. I believe in our constitution and the Bill of Rights and will fight to the death to preserve them. There is only so far the “powers that be” can push us until they wake up enough people and undermine their own agenda.

When people discover Ron they like his knowledgeable position on issues, but think Ron is an isolationist about foreign policy. Visit http://www.ronpaul2008.com

    TERROR

The United States Constitution has a mechanism in place to eliminate small isolated threats like Bin Laden or Sadam. The Letter of Marquee and Right of Reprisal are constitutional rules of law for protecting the United States form terrorists without destroying another sovereign nation. Congress has a constitutional mandate to generate this type of force. Neither the United States president the United Nations has this authority. In 2001, Ron Paul supported funding for the United States to surgically delete Bin Laden.

    WAR

Ron Paul continues to state he is not against war when necessary. World War II is the last time “WE THE PEOPLE” has followed our own law regarding violence against other peoples of the world. For 65 years, the United States has continually violated our constitution, rule of law fighting around the globe. America is guilty of unconstitutionally killing untold numbers of people around the world all in the name of spreading freedom.

Constitutionally, only congress can declare and fund war and not the United States president or the United Nations. For decades, Ron Paul has clearly stated when congress declares war the president now charged with discharging the congressional directive. Ron Paul has stated he would do exactly that, discharge the congressional directive, should congress declare war.

Vote with purpose and conviction not popularity.

LOL! Ron Paul must like to waste money. If not he’d drop out by now. Makes me wonder how much he’d waste as President. Oh well, we’ll never know. LOL!

  7. JAG Says:

Tim, if any one can show him wasting money, proove it. He doesn’t even take the lucrative congressional pension, all the money he got was from the People, not special interest. So, go hide your stupity under a rock, or if you’re bored, run in a circle till you drop, surely more clever than your comment.

  8. Mike Says:

LOL! ‘JAG’ that was fucking great. First off Tim didn’t say any of that, I did. He is wasting money on his campaign. Shit, he’s not going to be elected any higher than he is right now. So, based on that, he likes to waste money.

Second, what the hell is “stupity”? Just wondering.

Also, take a second look at your last comment then tell me what is wrong with it: “So, go hide your stupity under a rock, or if you’re bored, run in a circle till you drop, surely more clever than your comment.”

  9. dddienst Says:

It is not a waste of money to spend it on what you were given it for. We gave it to him to STAY in the race and keep spreading his message regardless of the odds. It then is only a waste and a total one at that if he then does quit the race. Winners never quit.

  10. Mike Says:

Oh, ok dddienst, so not only will Ron Paul waste money on a hopeless cause, but you will as well. Paul supporters are pathetic.

  11. FrankOH Says:

Tim in Minnesota said it best “Vote with purpose and conviction not popularity.” It’s the same people with sports game mentalities that are ruining this country. We have got to stop basing our decisions on who can win just because we want to feel good and show everyone that we can pick a winner. This is not a game folks, this is a serious decision with dire consequences if we keep getting it wrong as we have been with this two party monopoly. When voting, simply remove the party labels and go into it by listening to the message, that my friends is what Ron Paul supporters are doing, just listening.

  12. FrankOH Says:

Moreover, isn’t it obvious how the establishment elite are fragmenting us by making this presidential election about race, gender, religion and party? We need to look past our differences and simply focus on the candidate’s message.

  13. Ozzy Says:

    F Juan McCain
    F CFR Huckerster
    F Hillbillary
    F Obama

    Go Ron Paul!!!

  14. Mike Says:

FrankOH, exactly how have the “establishment elite” made this election about race, gender, or religion?
This election is more about what can I get from the tax payer than it is about anything else (just like it has been for years).

  15. rob Says:

    Mike,

The money given to Dr. Paul by educated American citizens has two purposes.

    1. Achieve the Presidency
    2. Attract attention to the Message

The first isn’t and wasn’t going to happen in ‘08.

The second has been achieved. Eight to ten percent of Americans have learned enough and have the stones to throw their vote to a 72 year old, described as a “kook” and ignored by the “MSM”. 20-25% of Americans believe in the Message, but can’t pull the trigger yet. Over 50% of Americans in my voting precinct agree with the platform, but are scared of his anti-welfare state message, in that they still want their S.S. and Medicare coverage. All it will take for them to join the movement is a severe recession and a realization that we can no longer pay for “their entitlements”.

Yes, the message is getting out through our money, which pays for Dr. Paul’s travels to his many lectures across the country, his radio interviews, his debate participation, his future financial support of chosen congressional candidates in ‘08 and beyond.

Mike, it takes a long time to make an impact on a thoroughly lost and corrupt government and its appointed MSM. My $2300 has been well spent, and I sleep well. How well do you sleep, Mike?

  16. The Concerned Says:

To Mike: “Ron Paul must like to waste money.” That statement there is unsound. How is he wasting money? If you also consider what others have mentioned already: He has returned money he ‘earned’ from the government and gave it back, he has no debt during any point of the elections while every other candidate has, and only gets money for his elections BY the People rather than loans or institutionalized interest and does not try to gain more money thru loans and government banks like all other ‘major’ candidates, EXPLAIN how he is wasting money!

How is he wasting it when as rob has mentioned his actual goal: To relay the message of the US problems to the US citizens and give word to it. By simply getting recognition achieves the ultimate goal: getting people to realize the problem. How does one fix a problem on does not know about? Would you drive a car that is going to explode because of a faulty engine? How would you know to fix it? By announcing what the problem is, he is giving people a chance to recognize and then fix it. It is the same with health care: Treat it as soon as possible to prevent a larger problem later. But all these fixes REQUIRE that you KNOW about it in the first place. This is not like driving a car and changing oil. This is like a tire with a nail in it, a part breaking in the car. IF someone could tell you it is not working as intended, or is in the process of breaking, you would fix the car. But once its broken, would you agree its too late? It is broken, and by then you might have broken more things as a result of it.

  17. The Concerned Says:

For the record, I’m seriously getting tired of people saying baseless things without saying how at the very least. We can say “He is wasteful” or “She is a bad choice” or “He is wrong.” But if you cannot say why, your statements end up baseless. Tell us how he is wasteful, how she is a bad choice, why and how he is wrong. If you can do that, put word to it so you don’t look baseless.

  18. Mike Says:

Rob, I sleep just fine, and I got to keep my $2300.00.

“The Concerned”, if Ron Paul and the nut jobs like Rob that support him must like to waste money. If not they wouldn’t be throwing it away on Paul. If the goal is to put forth some message, there are less expensive ways to do it. I’ve already explained it earlier, if you are smart you’ll figure it out.

  19. FrankOH Says:

Anyone that votes for a candidate other than Ron Paul is simply misinformed and voting against the best interest of the United States Constitution.

  20. Mike Says:

And FrankOH helps to demonstrate why Ron Paul supporters are nothing more than blind sheep in a cult.

  21. FrankOH Says:

“Mike”, since you THINK you are wiser than all in your ability to choose the best candidate for the job, tell us then, who is it that you support that when sworn in, will defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States? Up to this point, all that you have been doing is throwing insults at everyone. Why all the hatred and anger? Do you not love freedom and liberty?

  22. Mike Says:

“FrankOH” I haven’t seen that candidate run for office yet, and that includes your cult leader.

  23. Niel Says:

Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like “America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.
