Pastor Chuck Baldwin, and former 2004 VP candidate, won the Constitution Party’s nomination for Presidential today. He defeated former Ambassador Alan Keyes by a margin of 384 to 126 delegates. This is not much of a surprise, considering that Howard Phillips, the founder of the Constitution Party, gave a speech to the convention yesterday blasting Keyes as a political opportunist. Keyes seems like the kind of guy who doesn’t take losing very well. It wouldn’t surprise me if we now see him try and form his own party, run as an independent, or go after another nomination - maybe from the nearly-defunct Reform Party. No word yet on who the Constitution Party will nominate for Vice-President. Filed under: Alan Keyes and Campaign 2008 and Third Parties Comments:

I would hope that Chuck Baldwin would also get together with Bob Barr if he is the Libertarian Candidate and work to promote each other…McCain MUST lose if there is to be any hope to return the GOP to limited government to pro-freedom principles…

I’m happy with the result. Keyes just was not fit for the job. While he claims to be a Constitutionalist and a “Declarationist”, from the “War on Terror” to our unquestioning support of Israe, his positions just don’t match up. Don’t get me wrong, Keyes is better than McCain… whatever that’s worth.
Since Ron Paul isn’t running outside of the GOP, Baldwin might be the man to vote for.

I am glad Chuck Baldwin got the nomination!

Why would people throw their votes off from at least writting in Ron Paul and making the hugest statement ever, by tossing their vote into the Barr or Baldwin camps? Ron Paul or none else… He was the one that built up a movement, the others did little till now. If Ron Paul has no chance, these others certainly have even less.. What a waste! Ron Paul no none at all!
