A California lawmaker is pushing a bill to require global warming be included in all science courses throughout the state’s public schools. What business does the state legislature have of deciding what is taught in a science class? Shouldn’t science teachers and local school officials makes these sort of decisions?
This seems like an intrusion from a bunch of people who don’t know for sure what they’re talking about, but want to feel like they’re doing something. But if the legislature wants to encourage science education, let them send some more money to school districts to hire new science teachers. Or fund the creation of a new state university that focuses on scientific research. State legislators have no business writing science curriculum, that’s for certain. Gee, I thought that scientists had completely figured this out. Global warming is caused by Americans driving large cars. Not by an increasing amount of global beef comsumption. Right? Or maybe that’s not right…
Wow! Cows are destroying the world. Ban all consumption of meat… mandatory vegatarianism for all! Or maybe we should take a little longer to study everything and come up with a more complete picture of global warming, causes, and solutions. Rather than just leaping off a bridge over any one study. And we should really stop trying to score political points with this issue. Let the scientific community work without this political agenda hanging over everything related to global warming.

The BBC is reporting that snow is falling in the city of Baghdad for the very first time in living memory. In fact, all across the Middle East temperatures have plunged to record lows. Kuwaiti meteorologists are excitedly waiting to see if the previous low recorded in the open desert, minus four degrees Celsius in 1964, might be broken in the coming days. I’m sure that it’s only a short amount of time until the global warming nutters start to claim that all this snow is actually white hot. And yet, for some reason, their inability to face facts on this subject is ignored by the media. The entire world could freeze over and the MSM would fail to take notice that the dire predictions of global warming loons were wrong. But if we have one exceptionally hot summer day, the sky is suddenly falling. Besides, if we have slightly warmer winters once in a while, what is the harm in that? Heating costs are reduced, we use less crude oil, and the poor people that liberals are always weeping about won’t freeze to death. You’ve got to look on the bright side sometimes.
